Chevy Finally Showed Some of the New Bolt EV’s Exterior

General Motors cut the Chevy Bolt EV in 2023, but it almost immediately promised a replacement after hearing the backlash over the loss of an affordable electric car. We’ve heard a couple of years’ worth of teases without much “meat,” but that just changed with Chevy’s recent Instagram post, which shows a decent amount of the vehicle’s exterior.

Note: Images are of the previous-generation Chevrolet Bolt.

“You asked, we listened. The #ChevyBolt is back and better than ever. More this fall,” the post reads. Chevy didn’t give us a full look at the exterior, but the first two images stitch together a decent shot of the front end, which shares some design elements with the Equinox EV. We can also see new taillights and wheels.

While the new teasers take care not to divulge too much about the new Bolt, Chevy didn’t hide the updated North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, which will expand to other GM models later this year. That said, the new Bolt won’t use an all-new design. GM will employ a lithium-iron phosphate battery like the ones used in the Equinox EV and Cadillac Lyriq.

The Bolt was once one of the most affordable EVs on sale, reaching a price of around $35,000, but we don’t have details on the new model’s MSRP yet. That said, don’t expect a significant price increase. GM president Mark Reuss told InsideEVs that, “It’s going to be at a similar price point than the old one going out, which is very low. We’re going to deliver it at a profitable point.”
