GM, Allison Transmission On-Again, Off-Again Deal is On Again

Owners of new GM full-size pickups who want a truck with an Allison Transmission won’t have to take it on faith that the transmission in their truck does come from Allison: there will be a badge again.

Last fall, the automaker and its longtime supplier of 10-speed automatic transmissions for its heavy-duty pickups revealed the “Allison Transmission” badge that had so long adorned the vehicle would no longer be seen on the Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD.

However, some time has passed, and the two sides have essentially changed their minds.

“GM and Allison Transmission have agreed to continue their longstanding collaboration, helping to produce capable and dependable HD trucks that our  Chevrolet and  GMC customers rely on,” GM told the GM Authority,  which reported the story. “Soon, the Allison Transmission badge will be reintroduced to production of 2026 model year Chevy and GMC HD trucks.”

“This agreement will reinforce to customers that Chevy and GMC HD Trucks are equipped with trusted, Allison-branded 10L1000 10-speed transmission that delivers the performance, capability and durability customers expect,” the automaker added.

That durability can be expected, in part, because Allison officials noted the transmissions are basically unchanged from the previous year.
