Today’s recall alert involves the 2022-2024 Lexus LX.
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing has announced a recall affecting 15,264 Lexus LXs due to a defect that could interfere with passenger safety systems.
The recall covers certain 2022–2024 Lexus LX vehicles. According to the notice filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue involves insufficient clearance between the front passenger seat frame and a stopper component. This defect may cause the vehicle’s Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensor to inaccurately detect whether a passenger is present.
As a result, the vehicles may fail to meet federal safety requirements under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208, which governs airbag performance and occupant protection in crashes.
An improperly functioning OCS sensor could affect airbag deployment behavior, potentially increasing the risk of injury in the event of a collision.
Toyota dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and replace the front passenger seat frame assembly if necessary at no cost to owners. Notification letters are expected to be mailed beginning May 9, 2026.
Owners seeking more information can contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 and reference recall numbers 26LB03 and 26LA03.
